    The PS3 has now been on the market for two whole years, and in that time, it seems to have been struggling to hit the huge sales expectations of people expecting the new Sony console to achieve PS2-like sales figures early on. But according to Sony, all is fine as it’s still early days for the console. Meanwhile, Michael Pachter is predicting an April price cut.

    According to PC World, in his latest speculation on 2008 holiday sales and beyond, Pachter stated that he thinks Sony will cut the price of a PS3 by $100 in April(US money). A similar price cut in Australia would no doubt follow. Pachter added that “Once the PS3 is at a more affordable price point, we think that sales of that device will once again begin to grow.”

    Everything seems to be pointing towards an April price cut and most people think it would massively help sales if it happened. Lots of people recently who are either waiting for the price to drop or who have bought a Wii or Xbox 360 instead of the PS3 because it’s currently too expensive.

    Meanwhile, Sony doesn’t even seem bothered by the perceived disappointing sales figures for the console so far. In an interview with Gamasutra centered on the PS2, John Koller, director of hardware marketing at SCEA, said “The PS3 is still in its early adopter phase, tech-oriented consumer… they’re interested in the multi-functionality of the system.”

    Look out for bundles around the holidays. The 360 already announced their holiday bundle (2 Games, 1 controller headset and 120 GB Hard drive) for $300 and they have Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Bundle (Copy of the game, 250 GB Hard drive, 2 Controllers, headset) for $400

    yea man, it pissed me off when i bought mines and it cost like 800 with like 3 games and 2 contolers and the ****ing insurence...i got the 180 gigs...now its like 450 for all of that(ithink)

    on the sony website its going for $250 for the 80gb (not slim) with 2 dualshock 3 controllers...I'm not to fond of the slim i personally think its uglier...

    I can't believe it. When I bought it when it first came out, I spent almost 600 bills..

    Now they're just selling it for a little more than 3...

    At least you have been enjoying it for since you bought it

    The slim ones have less air flow so im guessing the slimmer one will overheat faster. Also the bigger one has more efficient parts cause theyre bigger.

    The slim uses 50% less power and has some new bravia sync technology but ehh i can always turn the other one off when im not using it soo no big deal for me

    It took Sony almost 10 years to drop the ps3 after the ps2 what makes you think they will do that so fast & plus they have nothing to trump the ps3 with...i mean what can they come out with that beats the "next generation systems" ?
