I have a hp dv1000 series laptop need help recovering

    Yeh i have a hp dv1000 series and the cd rom drive not opening/working 'assuming the drivers isent working, cuz i have buyed another one and meh waste money skunt, it was the same problem' to load a new iso windows file and i tryed to load it on a usb drive to install from there but the computer dont seem to reconize it even if i did it correct, currently the computer comes on and has no os. any one have any sugestions?

    go in the Bios and set the USB port as the first boot device.

    it dont havve any usb option

    those hps i think is lightscribe dvd drives ? i ran into this same problem with a similar laptop, to get it working i opened up the laptop casing and clean the contacts for the dvd drive using rubbing alcohol. replaced the drive n it worked fine after that . may not work for u but its worth a try

    Is it detecting cdrom in bios? hp dv series are all problematic

    the cd drive shud be plug and play simply, if ur replaced it u shud be able to plug it in and it works, even if the driver needs updating it will do it thru windows, but the drive will still work in bios etc, so make sure its connected right and it shud be working, unless the replacement drive is faulty too

    that would be the worst thing to do, they charge an arm and a leg for simple fixes

    Thanks guys but still no luck,. tryed everything nothing at all and the drive is not faulty i tryed in on another laptop and it was working fine i think the laptop has a infected bored sighh
