Apple if you can afford it. Otherwise sony or lenovo for long term. HP if you want disposable.

    Apple or Hp

Apple Macbook Pro & Pretty much any Macbook with a processor faster than 2.0 Intel Core 2 Duo...

I have a white macbook 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 16 GB Ram and 500 GB HDD

Apple's the best but on the expensive side...

It really depends on what the person will be using the computer/laptop for. Most on this forum will be using it for music and editing music.

Most people will say Apple. They have been around for as long as I can remember and have mostly built a reputation on editing video and music with not many issues but those don't come cheap.

I for one like Apple for that reason alone but they are pricey unless you get a 2nd hand Laptop.
Reliability on them are pretty damn good.

Is HP really that good? I got to buy my girlfriend another laptop before school starts again. I bought her a Sony Vaio couple years ago since she wanted a "pretty pink one" and that thing fu-ked up on her a few months ago! Talk about waste of money! Anyways, I always liked HP but was told Toshiba are better laptops. I see HP has the most votes on this thread so should I go ahead with an HP laptop?

stay away from hp they are the worst when it comes to customer srvc and warranty, my motherboard died twice for the same reason the second time they refused to fix it stated out of warranty but it was a known issue. Turned to a class action lawsuit and you know the rest.
