320GB Is good yes. But I would rather put like 1 more hundred and get a 500GB. For me I download a lot of music & movies, so I have a big external hard drive. I am working on some cash to get a Western Digital 750 GB 7200 RPM 10/10/1000 Mbps Ethernet External

i think sometimes you can hear noises come from the drive that can be a sign.

    but its really random.

There's one thing. It won't die easily if you take good care of it.

A external hard drive can not just die like that, its a way it can be crashed.

Yea buy a 1 Tb(~1000GB) and that should last u a good time.
price should range from $130 to ~ $180 max. i Bought a 1TB from radioshack for $150. it was a web only deal.

  14. all hard drives die after 8-15 years. by then you'll already get another one and transfer. I have this 8gb seagate drive that i use for bullshit and i had it since 1998. it still runs fine now but its noiser than it used to be. if you turn your computer off at nights and all that then you wouldnt have a problem. every computer i had i always kept it on and disabled the hd powered down when idle so that really stresses it.

ive been using the 500gb portable one from Lacie w/ no problems for 6 months now, even though the retractile usb cord is short its still convenient. One thing, if u buy one from them make sure u format it to NTFS cuz its default is FAT32. I learned that the hard way...
