i would say adobe audition 1.5 for remixing. for live mixing i would have to say rane serato live. i tend to mix alot with acid pro for the last year

nah i used it for a bit and i found it useless, serato has a much easier interface, and its really easy to keep your stuff organized in my opinion

    personally for remixing, Soundforge
dont use any software for live DJing...still using dn 9000 and most of the features arent available when you use serato, etc.
if i got a serato i would definately hook it up to my technics 1210s which right now unfortunately are collecting dust in a corner of the basement...but theres nothing sweeter than original vinyl

I don't use it to play music at parties. I use it for sampling. I'll stick to CD's for live music.

Pioneer MK3 or any Denon CD player for live mixing. Cool Edit for remixing, hands down!

if you use absolute mode all features are still available except
    effects.

if you use relative the only thing you can do is press play.
its terrible and a waste to use serato with 9000's thats what i first used them with and hated it.

its better with a tabletop unit but even then theres delay when hitting play unless you get used to it.

1200's n serato is my weapon of choice better then any combo of eqipment ive ever used.

Serato with a HC4500 produces no delay. Or any midi controller for that matter that is native with serato is great. If you want the feel of a 9000 with your laptop test it out, you wont be disappointed.

Adobe Audition 3.0 has some incredible feature FYI

I'm an ACID PRO User but thats only for professional remixing.

As for live mixing, there's no way you can use acid pro, unless your an acid pro nerd/freak.
For live mixing, I use TORQ. Great program, but you do need the equipment that goes with it. It pretty much does everything for you.
