Is it just me or has this industry come to a full stop in producing good songs? What happened to composers creating hits like 'Bole Chudiyan' and 'Lal Dupatta'. Sure the list goes on, but wtf? The last 'good' new song I can remember listening to was 'Lal Chunariya' and I think that was early in 08'. Even with that, there has been practically nothing. Is it the new generation and producers trying to adapt to today's lifestyle of why there aren't any good songs coming out.

Some people pose the argument to me that songs like 'Desi Girl' fill that void, but come on, thats Bullcrap. Singers like Sonu Nigam and Udit Narayan who have some of the best "starbai" voices to create these great songs are still very much available. I don't know what these composers are thinking but I can't remember myself having any interest whatsoever in purchasing a regular Hindi album like before when there were movies like 'Mujhse Shaadi Karoge' or 'Tere Naam' knowing that you can confidently buy the album knowing you got some quality tracks. Is is just me, or is there really nothing good coming out for a long while now?

Really, in my opinion, I feel as if it was the culture that made the songs sound like a "chune". With modernization, and exposure to western culture, a lot of Indian movies are transforming into a Western feel. I guess its what's popular in India, because they like all the new songs and stuff. Things just weren't the same as before, and I doubt it'll go back to how it was lol. I mean look at Dostana.. That was the first movie to bring up gay guys ( I think ) .. I don't remember if "Style" had gay guys lol. I don't know about you, but i'd feel weird to watch that movie around my parents. Old Indian movies are what made the culture so different and extraordinary, but now, I guess they feel change needs to be put into effect. Most of the movies are known for love stories, which I guess some people find to be boring. Soooo, I think the way that directors think are like CD label owners.. They can't produce the same thing over and over, because of sales, fame, etc..

Indian music has lost it composer due to the fact there attempting to westernize there culture to please the younger generation.
personally, I think Om Shanti Om had some music that had that old indian touch too it.

Many people think Om Shanti Om had that old indian touch because of that one song 'Deewangi Deewangi' featured 32 stars past and present. This is one of the few albums which had some okay songs such as afore mentioned 'Deewangi Deewangi', 'Aankhon Mein Teri' , and 'Dhoom Tana', but it still lacked that one love song which would put it over the top something similar to a "Lal Dupatta" or a "Tere Naam" so it still was below par to my standards..

what you guys fail to understand is Indian music that we as west indian like is very different from what Indian , Indian people likes. Tere naam , lal dupptata, natasha while those songs might be popular in our world the east indian people don't really care for it. Why you think our remix cds don't sell in there market and there's don't in our. I know its all indian music at the end of the day but it is what it is. Those new indian songs are selling in the east indian market, but to us the new songs are trash only one or two in between.

This is also another argument thats proposed to me as well but Indians aren't the only buyers in this industry are they? People from West Indies also purchase rights to these types of music including people from England/Germany etc. So why can't the film makers and composers adjust at least one song per album to everyones liking baffles me. It really isn't that hard.

The producer of that om shanti om came out of retirement after 97-98 ish to produce that track, hence the classic 70s,80s,90s feeling....his patna has passed away reason for him retiring and ting....actually roger I was watching the hindi award show on zeetv months ago, and even there own people are knocking hindi music they way it is right now, it will change hopefully according to them...

And keep this in mind its a generation thing also. I remember when I taught the 90's Indian songs were garbage compare to 80, 70. So Its just like people saying Rap , Hip Hop, these days are nothing compare to the old school days, same with Rock and Roll , so its all a generation thing. Just move with the times.

so u basically want a nice cd with nice old chunes/songs that u remembered listening to?? if so then ur gonna love what tracklisting i did for a certain someone commin out very very soon......

not many djs r gonna change now only a few will bring back ole chunes not everyone will mix da same some guys like tariq n younus r great n da old songs but most of da djs now a days like to do new hype stuff for da younger generation. and as for ur last question not to long for da cd i menchion in da beginning but over all maybe ole chunes will make a big come back, look at all da drinking cds comming out now, Put ya drinks up was a great one by supa jay n mistah vick also with dj dave's rum session check those 2 out. and yes it will take a while for classics to come back in da market because everyone busy with da new chutney 2009-2010 songs.

Nah you got me completely wrong. I'm talking about the new songs coming out on new hindi albums non-remixed. Songs in the movies...

What great Hindi albums you talking about Supa Jay? Om Shanti Om came out last year. Can you name any others for me you consider comparable to albums like Mujhse Shaadi Karoge or an album like Jeena Sirf Mere Liye?

de problem with indian songs that come out these days...its that bollywood tries to relate to rap,hip-hop and spanish wich makes the songs awful but remeber songs that we hate...other ppl around the world fall in love with......

a great song that came out this year was twist from love aaj kaal

I totally agree. In the past couple months there have no quality Indian music being produced. The songs are all starting to sound the same on the new ones that are coming out. Maybe there is hope for better music in 2010.

Dear God I Should Hope Not! I Only Collect Old Music Albums, And New Music Sounding Good Is Just A Horiffic Thought. I Mean, Then I Would Actually Start Collecting New Albums... But Whatever, I Knw That Bollywood Ain't Gonna Come Out With Any Good Music Anymore. Their Whole Culture Has Already Shifted... We See Goodbye To An Old Era And The Rest Of You Guys Can Usher In The New, Cause I'm Out. I'm Not Dealing With Those Losers.

I'm with you dream your right, its hard to shift back when the a new era has already started. Damn, the songs aren't even listenable to me that come out nowadays with the exception to maybe 1 or 2 every 2-3 months.
Guess its oldies till I die..Hm, we should make a chutney track outta that lol

Yup U Got It, Except I Don't Entertain The Thought Of Listening To The New Songs. I've Heard Enough, And Know When To Call It Quit. Tell Me If I'm Wrong? But Don't The New Guy Singers Sound Like A Deaf Guy? I'm Serious, It Really Sounds Like A Deaf Guy Singing... Also, The Oldies Are Whats Up! I'm Use To Seeing Sharukh Khan Like This:
