What's the Most Reliable and Fastest Virus Removal Software?

for the past two years i've been using norton anti virus. the software is good but it slows down my computer big time! i need a new virus removal software that's reliable and FAST. anybody can help me out?

i use Zone Alarm, and AVG

i always use Zone Alarm 24/7 , but when i use programs that don't work with it like.. SLSK then i use AVG. i will post up Zone Alarm for those who don't have it

i use avira its free and works i say try that it doesnt fail on me and keeps my comp running new

first of all my computer takes forever to load up due to norton antivirus, second of all my computer runs really slow due to norton antivirus (during idle) and third of all it takes FOREVER to do a complete scan.

Norton uses ALOT of system resources to take a long ass time to try to find a virus that it'll never pick up.

I used Norton, AVG, MCAffee, Avast Home Edition, Kasperskey AV, Trend Micro and Bitdefender AV. The one that I find that's the best is Avast Home Edition. It doesn't slow up my system start up, and if it does, I don't notice it. While it's idle and im doing something my PC doesn't lag because of it. It has an On Access scanner that scans EVERYTHING you open, anything that's in a folder you opened, any program you run, any webpage you go on, any file you download, it scans it. The scan doesn't make the computer stick also. The virus database updates almost every day and there's program updates about every month. Best thing about it.. its FREE.

I've never gotten screwed over by a virus. Anytime I do happen to get a virus, avast find it and doesn't let it run and asks you what you want to do with it. If you choose to do nothing with it, it still wouldn't run. Whats nice also is id go on some websites that are known to have viruses and avast would tell me its a bad site and has an option to kill the connection with that site.

Been a while since I was on this forum so let me put my two bits in here. As for the Windows Operating System, the only things that can carry a virus that can do real harm to the computer are Dynamic Link Library (DLL) files with the extension (.dll), Object Linking and Embedding (OLE) files with the extension (.ocx) and finally Executable files (EXE) files with the extension (.exe).

The reason that DLL and OCX can carry a virus is because they contain blocks of codes just as a regular program (executable program. EXE) but the only difference between the and an EXE file is that they require an executable file to execute them.

Now that we know what kind of files a virus can piggy back on lets go further

A basic pop up blocker is needed because Active X files also called OCX can install themself on your computer without you knowing. I think Firefox and all newer browsers come with basic popup blockers (NOT SURE THOUGH SINCE I'VE ONLY USED FIREFOX).

All antivirus software have something called "Real Time System Scan" what this does is it keeps the virus active and alert always. If there is a single "BIT" of modification to your computer the virus scanner will trigger and scan it; this is what causes the lag on your computer. An antivirus is never really idling when Real Time System Scan is enabled. So yes that's what really causes the Lag per say.

I've seen many reviews out there for antivirus but most of them are for people who are not quiet familiar with a computer.

If you have some knowledge about computers, then my recommendation to you for an antivirus would be either NOD32 or Kaspersky. I myself have been using NOD32 for the past 8 years with no problem at all.

I have been using NOD32 since 5 years now and never had a major infection so i guess NOD32 is the real thing...

i've been useing AVG and nod32 and both programs are the best programs i used.

Another Good Program is that of AVG.
Theres the ree edition, which is actually pretty good,
and the AVG internet security suite, which is even better.
Many of the other programs except avast are pretty good, but require like a serial, activation and stuff
with AVG, the serials arent really backlisted as fast, therefore you can do a simple youtube search
"AVG Internert Security Suite 2009 FREE" and theres many links that work and are simple enough as downloading the file
installing it and putting in the key.

I reccomend AVG, but as Trigga said, AVAST is pretty good an reliable too.

i use avg its like the best one i ever tryed the others are so annoying they have too many notices especially zone-alarm.

nod32 and kaspersky anti is de best prgrm 10yrs i been using dem plzz dont download Avg tat come wit virus plus tat shit is big mak ur pc slow lol so go to youtube n search u ill kno wut i mean

avast home edition is the best free antivirus there is. like trigga, i tried em all and avast is the fastest. avg is annoying with a million popups every half a second.
