is there is reason why i HAVE to get it when getting a smartphone? what if i -only- plan on texting/making calls on the phone, why doesn't that make a difference? i really don't have $30 a month to get the data plan but i'd still like a phone that came out after 1999. i'm renewing my contract will at&t and their going to automatically add the $30 to my bill if i was to get a smartphone. normally this wouldn't be a problem but all the other phones they offer looks like outdated shit. does anyone know why they FORCE you to take the data plan even if you have no intentions of ever using it? it's not only at&t, all the companies do it. ****en pisses me off cause i want a new blackberry but i can't afford the extra $30 on top of the current bill every month.
Can't you renew your contract with a different phone and put texting on it, then buy your smart phone online like on ebay or something and put your simcard in it? metropcs is great, but their service is horrible since they are not spread all over the US yet.
PCS is the cheapest company but all their phones are shit. or at least they were last time i checked which was a few months ago... that sounds like a plan but blackberries are $600 without a contract and i heard at&t can figure out what phone your using cause they report back to their towers or something
all coolie people think metro pcs is good when there a piece of shit you get out of queens and you aint getting no service at all and they dont have nice phones if you with AT&T call the customer service and tell them oh i would like to cancel out my plan with you guys because this is ridiculous then the lady will not want you to leave there company so they will try and try to get you to stay so then tell them you don't want the 30 dollars charged to your account for a stupid data plan and they will not add it just because you have been with them long and if you re new thats another 2 years they have your ass. also say you know my brothers family my sister family all of us are with AT&t and im fed up with it and going to Verizon they will do anything you want from there on.

i called them and they told me you HAVE to get the data plan and there's nothing they can do about that. i said if that's the case then i'll just switch to verizon and get the data plan with them and a better phone(the google ones) and they said it's unfortunate that they'll be losing me as a customer. total ****en nonsense. I DON'T USE INTERNET ON MY PHONE. why the **** should i pay 30 dollars a month for something i wouldn't be using? i want a phone with good features and touchscreen. why am i forced to get some shitty cheap shit? this is like time warner charging me 30 dollars extra for cable just cause i have a hdtv and not some old outdated one.
dont double post, and go with t mobile, i got the newest curve with no data plan, and on top of that i have wifi, so im always on the internet anyways... if you are going to stick with at&t get the samsung jack, it has wifi but you dont need a data plan
