i say everyone throw down one all genres. if you limit to one genre, your giving the remixers who are only good at indian or reggae the choice just to throw at that. but i say all genres is better. just to show more skill wise, and enjoyment to the judges.

My opion is that the track created should involve a variety of different genres, allowing the judges to recognize how well the mixer or Dj can mix the beats, acapellas, or rythms.

wow, no love to soca? It's not like Dee is going to come here and school all of us, I'd prefer soca, just tired of the same Indian/Dancehall stuff, getting played out, and the over saturated market is proof of that already. Even the American oldies would be a good idea. Would actually require more knowledge than digging through old Indian CD's looking for tracks that sound good.

Better yet, how about a contest of who can create the most creative mix-down, or megamix if you will, including all of the Genres listed above. I think that would better showcase the talent of our members who are new and upcoming and the veterans who hang around here as well.

    What do you say?

With respect for the OP, I vote for amending the contest in favor of my latter statement. Anyone in favor?

No love for soca. No love for soca-chutney either. If anyone does a battle with rum songs in it then they must be sick in their brain and would need medical attention immediately. Chutney is alright.

The reason why dancehall reggae should be chosen is because you can completely rip a next dj with it. Soca has a limited few, but do you hear any indian/chutney war chunes? Chutney artists may go head to head but have u ever seen a indian/soca/chutney clash? Then again, you all are some soft coolie people that dont want no form of hostile competition whatsoever so I guess I understand.

We should have an all genre mix hands down.
As the others said above, limiting to one genre will put some other remixers down just cuz they arent that good at that genre.
and if we had a house techno mixdown, half these niggas wouldnt even have enough songs and they would put tassa beats on it..

you can also choose a song that will be mixed by the dj's.

You upload a song.. everyone mix the same song.. you can set the rules..
    - 3 - 5 min.. (not longer)
    more..
