i think smaller bands may take over and revolutionize chutney and go farther than fusion chutney such as karma, triveni and dil e nadan but they are also trying to change it up.the youth are starting to come out singing such as avinash maharaj , the fabulous crew and soon others.and i think its better that the youth recognize chutney as something good because it wont be long until we lose our roots and become modernized into other things.i myself dont like certain hiphop rap and pop but if its chutney soca crossover im all over it. a peoples sound is what we should have like those mix cds people always make; they got the oldies that are bad for days and the new songs with more flare.music will always be changing slowly and we have to realize if its going in the right direction.

i think chutney is actually on the rise...the last couple of years the chutney being realeased has been hits. (maybe thats because they're remakes of the older hits but thats another topic) but none the less chutney looks a lot brighter than it did back i like 04-05.

I think Rakesh Yankaran will be a legend, he sings songs every years and puts out cd's with some nice songs on them. Also for this year, 2010, Heeralal Rampartap comes back singing Reviva. Chutney is catchy, but then again I love chutney. They sing all kinds of songs to satisfy the different generations of people who are listening to them. To the catchy, new songs that people dance to, to the resings of old indian songs( Khiza Ke Phool ) and so on. I dont know where chutney is going to go in the future. I just hope that there will always be singers and people to produce it and that it will always only get better.

Rakesh is alredy a legend if u ask me, he duz his own ting & kinda keeps classic chutney goin on. He avoids saying rum as much as possible unlike da rest of these new chutney singers & his style is jus unique. To jump on what Whizzad sed, I definitely agree, chutney is onda rise, my ears dont really agree wid wats comin out but it seems like da general public is agreein wid it. As for compared to 2 years ago, da song I can remember bein played still was mor tor & da was made in wat? 2005 or 2004? Chutney has gone far but da fact dey needa resing old indian songs to gain popularity is kind of a disgrace

I think chuteny has been hurt by the complete turn away from classical style. Yankarans, Sonny Mann, Rooplal, and Rooplal, Gattoo and Rasika are great. Not that the new Soca/Chutney fusion is bad, I love it, it's just we need more old school style. What happened to the use of the dholak and harmonium?

To keep it simple, newer chutney isn't chutney at all, the newer artists like ravi b, nisha b, etc, just picks an old indian song, edit the instrumental a bit, and sing some wack lyrics on it.

No originality at all. And these dumbass kids and young dj's fall for it. Now u have 11 year olds getting drunk just because they heard its 'cool' in a song. They really don't know what their doing,

the future legends of chutney is gon be the people who actually still sing chutney there is alot of stuff out there that we call chutney but it really isnt.....people like rakesh and anand yankarran and omardath maharaj and rasika and hemlata dindial will be the future legends for sure......im not saying that ravi b and raymond ramnarine wont become legends they will.....but they honestly created there own style of music which is taking movie songs and basically remixing it in a really fancy way by changing the words and putting a up tempo beat on it.........they cant be the future legends of chutney because they dont go back to the origins of dhantal dholak and organ.............thats just my opinion......lol

It's not even that. Musicwise, coolie people have NOTHING else to look up to so they get attached to whats there. If few coolie people step up and make reggae eventaully ittl get popular and more will, Shotta Youth already doing it with soca. I always told people before stop mixing songs that dead people made and start a new era of music. Some DJ's have the potential to become producers they just needa get their head straight.
