Re: Remix Contest Round 2: Reggae For Young & Old

I got to say, I agree with what Trigga said.

Unfortunately, I got DQ'ed in Round 1, but w/e no point to stress over $50, it just sucks that the competition started with the semester coming to an ending. I should have thought about that before I put my name in the hat, and for that I apologize to the organizer, Nasty, and DreamReaper, sorry for letting you down man, just couldn't sacrifice any of my time.

I Just finished reading all the stuff on the thread and thought I needed to sound off, whether you care what I say, or don't gives a rats ass, who cares.

If you get DQ'ed get over it, it's $50. If you don't like whats given to you fine. Remember this is a competition, you are not putting out a CD with your name on it, you are not doing this to sell to the public where you have to meet a quota to see if your distributor will allow you to put out another CD. If you can do it, fine, if you can't you will get dropped. Whether you choose to remix it or not because you feel as though the song is a "classic" or good enough as it is then that is your choice. If you have some personal stand against it fine, you are not following the rules set forth by the contest, and you will be dropped.

I agree with the track selection. These are done to show off competence and creativity. Competent enough to work with these tracks, and creative enough to try and make the song better then what it is, even IF the song my be perfect already. If you love a song so much, and think its so good, remix it. imitation is the greatest form of envy. Real Coolie life example, people LOVED Aisa Legta Hai, some said the version Stylistic did was the best, I don't, but everyone and their mother remixed that song, and I'm sure he still loving the fact that that everyone and there mother remixed that song to try and make it better then his. On the creativity side of things, this is not a battle of dissin your opponents, a battle to belittle your opponent, but a Battle to see who is the most creative of doing what they do, Remixing, and with what they are given.

Okay, just had to get that out there. I really would have liked to have had a bigger impact on this contest, but ohh well. Good luck to the rest of you that are still in it to win it.

Trigga, Extacy, and Paco had the best mixes.

i say no need to eliminate no one this round. since 9 out of 16 handed there's in. and eliminating wouldnt make it fair, for those who did handed it in. you can do 3 groups with 3 people in each. choose the best mix from each group, those advance. the final 3 are left and top 2 battle it off ?

p.s- im not saying this because i have gotten all bad reviews, atleast i still handed in a half completed mix and not complain and made up any excuses lol

-See if this was a chutney round, ill feel sorry for starbai.

Trigga and extacy had the best mixes. big up to you guys and to everyone who did had in a mix.

Lets not forget It's not all about that $50, its how big of a fight you would put up for something you love. and never give up on something eventho there's no hope. so for those who have lost let this be a wake-up call. comeback harder next time.
    like my aunt would say,

Try and fail, but never fail to try.

DJ SupaKid: 9/10 Great Mix! almost no flaws

DJ Tr3v: 8/10 New style makes u want more.

Trigga: 6/10 a bit ALL OVER the place to me, not your best i have to say.

    DJ FreeStyle: 11/10 :)

DJ Paco: 3/10 all over the place, studders/looping/transitions were not good, to many pauses in the songs.

DJ StarBai: 6/10 I don't think you used the right beat, but it was a good mix.

DJ DevVv: 2/10 Transitions to dont u rock my boat, almost flipped the whole boat ova. Your mix way to simple.

DJ Extacy: 7/10 good mix, great cd material.

DJ Ziggy- 6/10 good mix, It sounded good but u could have added a lil most spice in it.

I think DJ Extacy had the best mix. Seriously I'd give him a 9 out of 10.

Trev 7/10. Unique concepts, execution needs a little work. P.S you just scaring out all ur opponents.
    Trigga 9/10. Well done.

    Paco: 8/10: Good Mix.
Starbai: 6/10. Just a personal opinion i don't like the beat selections much.

Ziggy: 6/10. Got some volume/pitch problems.

just an idea nasty, but we should use polls. and let people vote in them
    for example like have
dj A vs dj B and then vote out of them in a poll
and the judges will have the final vote, if that person should stay or go.
