not only di soca is shit nowadays, its like our entire culture degraded. i mean soca originated in tnt an artist (from tnt especially) performing this genre supposed to be on top of their game.crop over tunes might be crappy also . guess we have to wait n see

No new soca songs can compare to old classics by Crazy, Sparrow, Baron, etc...

Some of the new Soca are nice. A lot of garbage though, but what you expect? That's how the music industry works, not every song is going to be "the shit".

This "lets have everyone sing on a riddim" garbage still continues for 2010...however there are some realllll nice tunes out there... like ramajay...hunting....police...d fan.....I actually find 2010 to be better than 2009...more awareness was brought to the soca genre through PALANCE...which even had Beyonce palancin...but since 2007 I feel that the quality of soca took a serious down turn.

Its too repetitive, since 2008. Every thing that you hear on soca now-a-days is "bumpa" or some crap like that. It's going really down hill. I can say the same for chutney tunes, every thing sang about now is how some man tek me gyal. Stupedness. As they say, OLD IS GOLD!!

As a BIG soca fan I can say that I am pleased with the diraction soca has turned with the "groovy" soca music. There was a time, after Big Truck or so where everyone was looking for the fast paced soca music but carnival is about chippin and takin a wine goin dong de road. So the new groovy soca, is really good for the music. The fast paced songs have their time and place and is very good hype party music. I enjoyed this years 2010 soca music. The slow ones and de palancin.

Machel Montano is the king of soca and would really put out big hits for not only the carnival seasons but all year round. He along with a few other talented soca artistes are still saying a lot in the industry. Honestly the quality of soca music throughout the years has been decreasing, but as fans we should give our support and encourage entertainers to put out better music.
