Had my toshiba for almost 2-2 1/2 years and it hasnt failed/crashed on me yet so, i reccomend it because its only like 80$+ or less (depending on wehere you buy it) and it has 320 GB -500 GB so i feel its reliable,, only recently when i got my macbook pro, i backed up my files onto it; before that i had 280 of the 320 GB filled on the hardrive and it nvr crashed! Hope i helped.

    DEFINITELY NOT WESTERN DIGITAL

My WD external failed after a year, my boy had 3 WD hard drives and all of them failed, one of them failed i believe only after a few days.

I have a 2tb WD and a 500 gb Simpletech (idk what brand HD is inside), but my 2 tb has everything except music and iso's/exe's which are on my 500 gb. Plus i have more music on my laptop which has 2 hard drives, a 320 gb, and a 250gb. I back up all my music and crap on my 2 tb. and then my pics are backed up on my 320 gb hard drive, and so on. so its like if one hard drive fails, there is a back up on another one.

Had my seagate for years man and had no problems with it as yet. Like I said, you have to take care of your devices in order to ensure the proper lifespan of them.

go with seagate, like trigga said in his post, they almost never fail. either that or toshiba. or get yourself a 2tb desktop drive and get a case, you can even get a sata to usb cable for 10 bucks

i have a toshiba & a maxtor one for around 2 yrs........both 500gb........both afre working fine.....but performance wise, i'll surely prefer maxtor over toshiba...as toshiba one after exchanging large amount of data, becomes little hot....and obviously the access rate is higher in maxtor one........
