None of the above. Build it from scratch, cheaper and better. Not to mention no bloat-ware. Plus when you buy an already built computer, you're just paying for the name.

Unless you're going for a laptop, or have no experience with building computers, I suggest you build yours from scratch.

it depends on what you are using your computer for sony is great for a media computer....dell is great for everyday use...HP and Compaq only great feature is the Recovery Manager, so it would be great for porn....Acer's computers come with so much BS bloat-ware it's not even funny....BUT MOST OF ALL THE BEST WAY IS TO GO IS BY BUILDING IT FROM SCRATCH

I also have an HP laptop and i love it.
No complaints. It has been dropped twice after these parties i djed lmao wen i was packing it away and its in good condition still. I had to replace the screen once tho... but i was under warranty and got my laptop repaired in a week and a half, which isnt so bad. They even gave me a new keyboard and mouse pad and stuff to replace the worn keys and and stuff. Good Machine + Good Customer Service.

I HATE DELLS. i fix computers as a side job for all the idiots in my school, and all of them are dells. They always have a hardware issue.

    Sony is good, but expensive.

No complaints about acer.. just that their desktops for some reason are a ***** to reformat. Idk wats good with them but they like to turn the USB keyboard off when you hit the windows setup screen -__- i have to use the old PS2 mouses, maybe someone can explain this to me.. but yea. Acer overall are good machines too.

    Toshiba is good too.

Apple is a brand all by itself. I think in the future, everyone will switch from Windows to Macs.

Anyway, my top 2 brands are HP and Toshiba. Apple imo cannot be compared with. Dell Sucks ****.

BUILDING PCS FTW. Seriously, instead of buying a desktop and choosing between two cuz one has this that the other doesnt, just make your pc the way you want it, with the stuff you want. Building a pc is not difficult. Plus, you can upgrade the parts later on as new shit comes out.

HP is definitely not the worst. It's the best out of any. Cant afford HP? Get a compaq. Sony is overpriced. Acer is trash. Dell? I wouldn't bother since HP is so much better in terms of hardware quality AND support. Apple will die out in 10 years because of people being scared that the irobot movie becoming real life. Wait and see. Building a computer is always best but if your not able to build one yourself just get an HP.

this chap should really specify if its a desktop or a laptop cuz i havent seen a sony desktop in awhile.

and trev your probably referring to old systems (and when i say old systems i mean ones that still have a ps2 port) i think if hes buying a computer he wont have that issue.

another brand you should check out is asus, their hardware is pretty good (both desktops and laptops) so add em to your list.

if you are not building a computer then you are going to be paying way too much anyway, the way i see computer is, you get what you pay for, and as far as bang for your buck, HP is the way to go, if you wanna score a deal then acer is ur choice, if you want a name brand then sony is for you, compaq* and hp are the same so ur best bet is a hp itself, desktops run you a lot, but they are worth it, if i were you look into getting an hp laptop they recently came out with an all new look and processor and you will definitely get the bang for the buck! ;]

gateways are okay, they're not the type to put the brand new hardware in their machines though, which is why they cost little.

It's better to build your own. If not, then an HP is the way to go.
