you need to cut off all the background programs, even your antivirus. You can do so by using the task manager and ending the processes.

Don't shut down your anti virus programs! Do a disk defrag and get rid of any additional tool bars that are running that are not needed. Clear files and folders.

might want to try doing a disk cleanup, just go to start menu and search disk cleanup, put a check mark in every box then continue, then do a disk defragment, after that u can search for installed programs you dont need and remove them, then u can install malwarebytes anti malware, it scans thorough for viruses/malware/etc, and it will remove them.

    1. upgrade to win7 if you're on vista
    2. use Avast Home Edition as your anti virus
    3. download tuneup utilities and use it. have it run once a week
    4. stop downloading bullshit

follow those directions and your computer will run as smooth as ever.

If you're dj'ing, you shouldn't be on the internet anyway.
Turn off your antivirus, and turn off your wireless card cause im sure most people are using laptops. Contact serato, and they will tell you to do the same.

Virus AND malware scans + tune ups = good stuff

Seriously, a 1.8ghz single core cpu with 1gb memory from 2006-2007 can run vdj with no problem. If any computer you can buy nowadays is running slow, then you have some major issues to sort out with your pc.

this you should reboot you computer and stop downloading things like movies or songs . if you download put on a external hard-drive 4 gb ram should be pretty good

Computer can't do more than the processor can handle :)

Maybe post the full specs so we can tell you exactly where the problem is.

He can have all the ram in the world his bus speed is the bottleneck in his system. His problem is most likely bad configuration. He never posted back since then though so I doubt he cares about it...

4gb ram is more than enough for any task, any more is overkill. most likely the processor is the bottleneck, if you're using a single core, consider upgrading to a dual or quad core, if you're running serato that'd be a good investment since im sure you wouldnt want it to freeze up on you at the wrong time. also getting an ssd would make your system much faster, consider that as well. if you dont want to spend any money, simple way to fix your problems is just reformatting and reinstalling a fresh copy of win7 and only the BARE essential programs you need so you dont have a lot of bullsh.it on it.

    1) Re-install windows (windows xp is the best)
    2) use Ext hdd storage
