Hey Guys!, when i was at the age of 8(Guyanese people would know how old they were, when they were in Primary 2...lol), i stole $300GUY and bought my first cassette with chutney bachannal on it and i used to play it on the car stereo. I am 23 years old now, so it's been around 15 years now that i am into music and i am very proud of that now that i think about it....wow!. Some of you guys are way older and have more experience, so lets hear it.....:beerchug:

chill, you're one of the oldest people here actually lmao
I always enjoyed listening to the radio and stuff, and then i discovered WinMX when I was in like 3rd grade lmao. From there i started building a library... my cousins and uncles had their vinyl setups and stuff so then I got into DJing, and it goes on from there.

Music is part of the culture, for most it's from birth.

I never was really interested in music until I started middle school. At the time, everyone was into the whole hip-hop/rap game and thats what I started listening to at first. In fact I still have a folder of music from then, that imma upload during the summer, sometime. Pretty soon, I got into the whole dancehall/reggae scene and moved onto indian/chutney.

I would say I was always into music. I remember when I was younger, we would have huge parties. Being Guyanese, it would be mad people at the party. We would blast music & dance. So, I've always been into music. I never really started creating my own personal library of music until I was around 10 or 11 when I got my first laptop.

Music was always a part of growing up, as my family ran/ DJ at a lot of the queens clubs such as (Hillside Casino, Benab, Soca Paradise, Oriella, etc) those were clubs in 80's -90's. I used to travel out to the city to buy music every Friday. So much easier now with mp3 and internet. Anyway, If Tr3v thinks 23 is one of the oldest here, then I must be a Senior Citizen on this site...lol

my grandfather started soca paradise it's nice to see people haven't forgotten that place. It was born with me, given the family business and all. But when I was little I hated indian music and hated chutney, loved soca, but found the vocals for chutney songs too high pitched when it came to women singers.

I've been around it all my life...growing up I hated Indian and Chutney music. In middle school I started getting into it more, buying tapes and CDs, once I got a computer, I had access to songs I grew up with and hadn't heard in years.

To this day I can only tolerate a certain amount of Indian music lol and Chutney is growing on me more. Soca is #1 to me.
