    I want to put together my own PC, any suggesions on what type of processors, graphics cards, motherboard, etc. to use. I'm going to be using it for gaming & vid purposes.

    If you can afford an i7 processor, thats the way to go. Do not get an AMD processor.

    - Intel i5 or 7s are better, but AMDs are cheaper
    - SSD would be out of your budget, but go with WD or SamsungHDs
    - Go with ATI graphics cards
    - Go with Gigabyte motherboards.
    - Look for modular power supplies (only use cables you need)
    - Coller Masters cases are really nice. Go with something cheaoer: HAF 922
