I'm thinking of buying one of these phones over kijiji/craigslist and I'm mostly looking into the 9780. But you know, you can't trust those ads sometimes so is there a way I can tell the difference between someone trying to pass a 9780 off as a 9700 from a person selling a legit 9780? Something I could check internally in the options other than the OS (since you can put os6 on the 9700)? I've never owned a blackberry so the differences in the keyboard would be unnoticeable to me...

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Hey VaPouR,

If I was you, I'd go for the Bold 9900, since it is the newest model. However, Blackberry bargain hunters can find that the older models are being sold for much much cheaper on websites like kijiji and craigslist.

I came across this website that discusses the differences between those two models.

    Hope this helps you!

Hey VaPouR, I can help you out with that. I own a 9780 and there is some differences actually. One difference is that the 9780 has about 512 MB but with OS 6 on it, its gonna be like 267 MB but the 9700 got 256 MB and after OS 6, its gonna be like 1 something. Another is the design since the 80 got all black and the 00 got a silver lining. Then if u go into the options and go to Device > About Device Versions, u can tell the difference on the first screen.

Hope that helps u out. I got a 9780 and I got no problems with it.
