So my Sony Vaio says OPERATING SYSTEM NOT FOUND when I try to boot it up. It wont pass this black screen. I go in to bios and its says Harddisk=0MB, so Im assuming my hard drive is finished. Tried using a bootdisk but it also says operating system unknown, hard drive unknown. Has this happened to anyone before, I dont want to go and buy a new harddrive if its something simple like a missing driver. My hard drive does make a clicking sound when trying to boot up also. Any help appreciated....

i'm almost 100% sure that's it is hard drive failure. (i hope you backed up any important stuff, lol)

but yeah, you can try the hard drive in another PC just to be sure it isn't a problem with the motherboard.

if the other pc doesn't recognize the hard drive, then it's toast.

Yea, you can try the drive on another computer, but its pretty likely the hard drive is gone. They aren't that expensive nowadays, and with holiday season coming, there should be some on sale.

Thanks guys, I googled it and see its a common issue with my Sony Vaio. Anyone have a 2.5" USB 2.0 SATA Hard Drive housing for sale, or know anywhere in queens,ny that will test my hard drive for cheap?
