I am trying to install Linux(Ubuntu) for trial on a dell inspiron. I tried booting it from the USB after copying the files with Linux Live USB creator. It does not work. It gives me the error "OS not Found." Help please?

I also have another question, which is one of the most secure Linux OS's ?

Try downloading the cd version, you can run the live version directly from the disc. The Ubuntu distro is stable so you should be fine.

thank you for the information. is it a good idea to run linux on all my computers? or just one ? And any tips on how to harden a Windows 7 system, and this Linux Ubuntu system ?

btw did you hear bout how the new Windows 8 created systems are going to be made to only run Microsoft on its hardware ? Whats up with that ? Explanation if you have any idea.

Linux is very secure, depending on if you know how to use it. If youre not fimiliar with it, us VMWARE to install in a virtualized environment and play with it and see if you like it.

Install via live CD, I recommend 10.4 LTS as it has Gnome 2 instead of Unity.
You can dual boot after partitioning the drive with Gparted. Configure grub accordingly once install is complete.
