Lmao you don't know what the Chutney Soca Monarch is bai? It's an annual Chutney competition, takes place in Skinner Park Trinidad. Chutney artists submit there songs, the dead line is December 23 rd I believe. There will be semi competitions, and 10 artists will be chosen out of many. The final is on February something, and the 10 artists will perform like. Winners are chosen by text votes. And win gets like $2 million I believe..

so if its just chutney it cant be entered? i thought that was the point of them getting rid of the indian melodies, so they can bring back actually chuntey, might as well have the melodies back because i dont like a majority of these original chutney soca songs
Yea if its just Chutney then it cant be entered that's the rule of the Chutney Soca Monarch.The reason there getting rid of the Indian melodies is because the Chutney Soca Monarch is based on originality of the songs up until 2008-2011 it was based on Indian Melodies. Which was nothing wrong with that but, its now getting out of control using those melodies.So they changed it because they wanted the singers to make there own original melodies.If you look at the past winners of the Chutney Soca Monarch from 2006-back you'll see its all Chutney Soca with no Indian melodies and no rum verses.
