I won't doubt you that you're Canadian but I will doubt you on knowing how "those guys" are. I'm Canadian (born and raised) myself, with a Guyanese background that grew up with Sri Lankans my whole life and dated nobody but East Indian girls until my current girlfriend. There's nothing non-multicultural about me and never had I once have a problem playing music for a crowd. Toronto is open to multiculturalism no doubt about it but is Chutney music the only cultural music you can pull up for a crowd? I will agree with whoever told you that Chutney music is embarrassing because I find the music over fu-king humiliating myself.

Im not saying it might be you , but just some people in general. I guess its why there are two different event markets ;Twilight & Coconuts vs Suite 811 , Luxy & Koolhaus. M4U & CV would play the West Indian scene and Prime & Heatwave would play at the urban places.
