This might be long and full of questions so here goes. Ive had this laptop for about 3 years now and I noticed when I went to NY about 2 years ago i think... When im on the internet all of a sudden it decides to crash and I have to restart the laptop and sometimes even when I restart it the dam internet crashes again. So here are where my questions come in...

    1. Why does my laptop crash all the time? Well not all the time but why does it crash in general?

    2. I was thinking of taking it in to a computer store and have them look at it but I hear its expensive. Is that true?

    3. If all else fails im thinking of buying a new laptop. Is there anyone that you guys recommend? I don't do much on it so I definitely don't need anything fancy. I'm just basically using it for school because the rest of my classes are online and I cant use a laptop that's crashing all the time. And now that i have a little time again i mix.

    4. Does it cost anything to transfer all my stuff from this one to the new one? And will all my programs transfer over? What about my Acid Pro and the mixes, will they transfer too or will i loose them?

I hate the fact that this is happening cause i was saving up to buy something else but if i have to get a new laptop i will but i decided to come here and ask you guys because a lot of people on here are into computers and stuff. I hope you guys can help me thanks.

Here are the specs for my laptop now. (I tried to take a pic but it kept coming out blurry)

    Satellite L355-S7902
    Intel Pentium Processor T3400
    3GB SDRAM 250GB HDD
    17' Diagonal Widescreen TruBrite display
    802.11b/g
    DVD SuperMulti with Labelflash
    Webcam & WiFi

No one will be able to tell you because you never gave us any details other than it crashes when you go on the internet. give us details on when it started happenining, what u did right before it started, any other problems or strange shit happening, etc.. unless you do that, we cant help you.

Have u ever just tried reformatting? lol might be the solution to your problem and story done. If it doesn't fix, than you may have a hardware problem. If thats the case, it might just be better to buy a new affordable laptop.

Ok well it first started the very 1st time about 2 years ago when I went to NY for christmas. Im just using the internet like normal; for example ill be checking my mail and then all of a sudden the window closes and a mozilla crash report comes up. And I know when its going to crash because when I click on something it takes forever to load and then the window closes.

Another thing I saw the other day was I got the blue screen. When it crashes again ill take a Screen shot of the crash report.

And trev I never did the formatting thing. How do I do that? and wouldn't that erase everything?

Well reformatting is a good thing because yes, it does erase your data, but it also provides with you a clean slate for your computer. You pretty much get a fresh start, so all those viruses, malware, registry errors, etc. are all gone.

But from what you're describing, it sounds like your hard drive might be gone. A good program is Hard Drive Sentinel. Its supposed to be here on the forum, do a search. If its not, I'll post it up. It will do some data testing and let you know the "health" of your hard drive.

Reformatting will delete everything from the computer. Mixes and all. i would recommend getting an antivirus and cleaning up your PC. If that doesn't work. Use an external and backup your entire computer. Take out the good parts of your computer like the hard-drive and ram and look into a new computer. Toshiba laptops are know for messing up even in the first years of use. I recommend you save the hard drive and ram and look into a good HP or Sony if you want an affordable computer. Feel free to ask if any more questions. Hope everything works out for you.

Toshiba laptop aren't good as a whole. Everyone experiences problems with them. I advise everyone I help not to look into Toshiba's.

So when I reformat will all the default programs still be on there?

OR im going to the mall tomorrow anyways I can look around for Sony and HP laptops. And when I do buy a new one somewhere in the future, do they transfer everything over to the new laptop for free or does it have a charge?

Another thing is if I do get a new laptop im not gonna wanna spend alot because im just gonna have to buy another one in about 3 or 4 years anyways, but i need it for school so ill pick a few tomorrow that i like and ill tell u guys the specs for it and you can help me pick out a decent one

if you pay someone to transfer data for you, you have money to waste lol. Transfer the data yourself using either a flash drive, file hosting, or an external hard drive <-- the easiest.

Asus and Lenovo are decent brands as well.

Trev stated the best thing to do. Transfer your files to an external hdd. Find a decent computer. If you need deals, I could find you some. And just transfer your files over. If you need any help with doing that, I help free of charge. You have a wide variety of laptops to choose from. Affordable and reliable.

I recommend getting an HP. If not an HP, the build quality of toshiba nowadays is pretty damn good. Just stay away from dell lol. & remember, your laptop is still fixable so maybe one day you can get someone to fix that and use it for bullshit.
