Hey everyone I was just trying to print something on my new laptop and I have an HP DeskJet 820Cxi printer and it has USB, So I plugged in the USB on my new laptop and it didnt dectect it. It comes up as unknown. I thought the new laptop was supposed to pick up the USB and detect the printer?

I went online to the HP website and looked for the driver but they dont have it for that printer. I lost the CD that can help set it up, is there anywhere I can hook up my printer to the new laptop since I cant find the cd or the driver online? I just bought new ink for the printer too so I hope it can work lol.

and my old laptop has word 2003 and i tried to download the file converter and it wasnt working. but i need to print from this laptop because all my school stuff is here.

    Any ideas?

none of these are working. On the 1st link that VJ gave me i clicked the one i wanted
I am buying a brand new computer with Windows 7, and want to set up my existing HP printer with it.

i did the steps it didnt work, I had tried the 2nd link last night but that doesnt work also
When i plug in the usb to the laptop it says installing driver software and then it says no driver found

I went to add a new printer and it doesnt have my printer as an option

when i plug in the usb the printer shows up as unspecified

don't know what to say, most printer drivers are preloaded on win 7, if not you should be able to update driver from wesite.. GL, hope something works out

connect printer, click start type in device manager "press enter" find printer in list then right click and update driver software or right click properties update/install driver software (must be connected to the net) .............the driver software is also available for download online both x86 which is 32 bit and 64 bit. the 1 dat u need depends on the OS installed or if u get the win xp version to download just right click on setup file and run in compatibility mode
