People shouldn't rush to upgrade, software first releases are always full of bugs.

Performance is way better on Windows 8, but still trying to get used to the large tiles. The tablet mode interface reminds me of the big button senior citizen phone. I would say upgrade and get used to it.

I'm a fan of it for just that, including my personal facebook, email account, and phone book. It still needs some touching up to do but overall it's not as horrible as what other people take it to be. The windows explorer has alot of new useful tools. The new start menu isn't too bad either. The apps/program list is a joke though. It could be organized a bit more conveniently and I'm sure it will as the updates come. I also liked the aero style which isn't there anymore. Didn't know why they had to take it off, probably for resource purposes. Some apps still need some work as well.

If I were Microsoft, I would of forgotten about being the first operating system to be touch screen and took in another year to perfect it. Cause now it's almost like all the other competitors, including Apple, Google and Android, are using it as a reference to make something possibly better.

honestly i think it is, its starts up so fast, better than windows 7 obviously but windows 8 is really good

o and the Nokia lumia 920 and the HTC one X has windows 8 on it, those phones are amazingly good, mostly because it has windows 8 on it

not worth the upgrade unless you have some sort of touch interface, it definitely wont be deployed in corporate environments.

Before you jump to any conclusions I recommend that you try it out for your self. Install it as a virtual OS and run various applications on it. Particularly I've been testing alot of security software, and other everyday software like MS Office, Adobe Reader, etc. That will at least give you an idea of how stable and how well it performs. Of course if you want to get more technical perform a dual boot, just to see how well it responds to various hardware. Thats my recommendation.

For remixers, windows 8 crashes on some VSTs.

pass. gave up on it after a couple hours. apps run in full screen its too hard to multitask efficiently. no desktop. really sucks for power users. only seems okay for use with touchscreen convertible laptops

Honestly I have Windows 8 and I love it. The guys in the video make it seem so much more complicated then it actually is. After having it for about a day your so used to where to click and how to get around to the programs and apps you need. I use my laptop only for school these days so all the email notifications I get on start up are great. I love the integration of Google, Facebook and your Hard drive. That way the programs you chose have that all show up together in one app such as photos there is a folder for Facebook Google and My Pictures. Or calendar It syncs to the Ever-note app I have on my phone which I keep all my school homework and notes on which I can now automatically have access to on start up with due dates and rubrics for all my assignments as well as my Facebook calendar so i can keep up with birthdays and Social Events. I also love the messaging app that way when someone messages me it automatically goes to my computer and pops up on the side, which eliminates the need to have Facebook or Messenger open while I am doing work.
