What is good way to know what is a hot riddim that is out rather than wasting time and download riddims that don't have anything good on them.

A few ways that come to mind are listening to some mix cd's or listening to the radio. That will usually give you a good indication of what people like. Usually what's on the radio is popular.

Check out the soca charts to see what are the top songs currently playing.
of course if your keeping up with the genre. It will be easier for you to know what's good from what is not so hot.

I usually look at the artists on the riddim, if it's some random people i've never heard of, chances are it's not going to be something i would play at a party (although it could be something i enjoy personally, but not usually). If i see a big name or two, like konshens or beenie man then i search it on youtube and see how many views it has in comparison to when it was released. If it has like 10,000 views in the first week then i download it, if it has like 100 views after a month then i dont bother unless i like it for my own enjoyment. (these numbers are just examples, you get the point lol) If you are good at predicting trends and have a good sense of music, you should be able to listen to a riddim and tell if it is something that would become popular.
