A glass of water fell on my laptop about a year ago and it never turned back on. Do you think there is any way for me to get it back up and running?

yes it could definitly be fixed, it depends on what got damaged, youd have to check for damage on the insides of your laptop, i would say your motherboard is what got damaged and needs to be replaced, either that or the dc power adapter got shorted and daamaged, those are things that will prevent the laptop from turning on.

How can I test the motherboard to see if it is working before I just go buy a new one?

a way to test it is to try to turn on the laptop with the battery removed and the charger plugged in, if you don't see or hear the fan spinning at all, then the motherboard is most likely bad, if the fan spins up but you get no picture on the screen then your video card is bad which is integrated on the motherboard which means that your motherboard is bad. you can also try reseating the memory sticks/ram and the cpu if you know how to do so.

its probably not worth the cost to fix a laptop motherboard. I hope you had some sort of extra warranty that covered that.

Considering the fact that this happened a year ago, maybe getting a new laptop might be a viable option. The price that you might pay to diagnose, purchase replacement parts and installaltion (with the chance of failure) might fail in comparison to the price of a laptop nowadays which may actually be a higher spec compared to your old one.
