    I preferred Winamp, but now it has stopped so it's unsafe using it, because you don't get any (security) updates anymore. Now I use Windows Media Player 12 for audio and VLC for video.

    I ususally use VLC. The name may be a bit misleading. It also plays audio files.

    Some time back I got to know about Mediamonkey. I've loved it. Better than WMP, Winamp etc.

    VLC media player is the best. You can play all types of files including mkv.

    KMPlayer is the best one i have ever used.

    winamp for the win!
    ive been using winamp for donkey years.
    i guess im a creature of habbit, but if it aint broke, dont fix it.

    For music theres nothing better than foobar....lots of options to customize as per your taste and even great dsp plugins like dolby headphone....highly recommended !

    itunes is pretty good also has apps to organize your library
