Always always always have a backup. I keep multiple backups with friends and family. in case of emergency someone can bring it over to you. Start using cloud storage as well. worst case scenario you can download major songs from the cloud.

go to the nearest market, ask where the tissues are, buy them and start crying..lolololol. from experience never have one copy of anything. ALWAYS back up your music to another source. Hard Drives have a knack of failing at the WORST TIMES POSSIBLE!!!!..... burn them on DVDs or even BLU-RAY blanks, or if you can afford it buy another external hard drive or big enough flash drive

This can be very disappointing, you should have a backup system on hand incase this ever happens

I have a backup hard drive and computer. That is part of DJing.
When I used to DJ with CDs I had at least 2 copies of every CD. When I had records I had at least 2 copies of every record. So now we have computers so I have 2 Computers and 2 Hard Drives.

I would advise anyone today to SWITCH from spinning hard drives to SSD especially when you're dealing with music. Imagine the wear and tear on something spinning 7200rpm every time you request a audio file.

Always have a backup up plan. Extra laptop, CDs, hard drive thumb drive with at least the necessary songs to get you through the night.

Also good to use a controller with an onboard sound-card in case something happens with the laptop.

Having music ripped to a cloud based server/home server is a good idea. You can always hot spot from your phone and stream/download.. Last resort could be to play youtube or spotify.
