My current gaming laptop is the Asus G751 and my ultraportable is the Macbook Air.

Asus ROG series for performance. Apple Macbooks for "form"

HP hands down. there stuff is premium quality , in addition it can handle a lot , i used mines for everything from leisure to business , mixing music to doing graphic work.. However i have friends and family that prefer apple because of popularity and having a store in pretty much every mall that will provide customer service so i guess its all on preference and what you will like to do with it ...all the best

Lenovo's been famous for making computers after they acquired IBM and is popular for businesses. I love the new Yoga 3 Pro

Was an HP fan all my life until I realized that the specs are the factor not the brand...so I like Acer no problems to date..

It all depends on which line you choose to buy. For example the Hp Elitebook series...there case is strong but its so heavy.

Apple runs any audio software without any lag time.
I've tried Dell and Asus there was always a lag when running any audio software.

I believe apple would be the best in terms of OS. For PC, Asus brand is solid for those on a budget.
