Been around listening to remixes since CD's from the old days of FPM, just recently was listening to some older CDs by Double Impact Sound Crew (Chutney Zone Injection, and Chutney Zone Shaken Not Stirred), and of course been listening to some of the newer CD's that are out.

My question to the guys that are making the good CDs, some of the names mentioned in the topic title (not to leave anyone out, there are lots more ppl making good remixed CD's out there), Can you break down making an intro track. What software is being used, (Mac, PC), how to have the same riddim in the background for multiple tracks, hardware, how long does it take to make an intro track.

For example like on the Double Impact Sound Crew CDs i mentioned above, how much time goes into making a intro track that is 3 minutes long, covering basically all the songs that will be mixed in the CD, into a seamless track, that sounds amazing.

Mixing music live, no problem, nice and smooth, but walk me through the steps on making some killer intro mixes.

This is something that cannot be explained in one sitting lol

it takes a lot of practice and skill to make the kind of attention grabbing track you're talking about. We all use different programs and techniques but I personally use Sony Acid. its a multitrack mixing program. If you get it and open it up, it might start clicking in your head how we go about making these mixdowns.

Thanks, i have def had my fair share of time with Acid Music, not as much as I would like, but have recorded live mixes, edited and created personal CDs. Hopefully get some time soon to sit down and play around with it a bit more.

You guys do have skills, but hear this: for listening enjoyment please let a song them play for at least 3 minutes. Short song is like quick sex while one gloats the other is like "what the hell u done already?"

what you're referring to is a remix. remixes are typically full length remixes of songs but doesn't have to be

mixdowns are a bunch of songs mixed together, remix or original.
