Looking to purchase my first Mac. Pretty much will be using it for music, movies and business needs. Any suggestions on what to get or to stay away from?

Mac book pro. Personally it's better to have one computer dedicated for djing. Movies and business will add additional program, use up space and can conflict Dj software.

Macbook Pro for sure, It'll give you all the necessities without compromising performance. Something you'll keep for years. I've had mine for 6 years still going strong.

Having both a Macbook air and Macbook Pro I can share my experiences with each.

Macbook Air - If you need something that can carry around daily, handle light tasks, and do them on the fly, this would be your best option.

Macbook Pro - Being a developer this is my go to workhorse. My Macbook pro I've been using since 2012. All I did was swap out the hard drive and ram, and it still going strong with anything I throw at it. IMO it is way easier to swap out the hard drive than the air. If you would store your movies and music on this, and use it for heavy tasks such as DJin as some mentioned, this would be your go to computer.

Macbook Pro is the most complete and does not add that much to walk around with

Mac book pro. You just need to upgrade the hard drive youself if you ever feel its not enough and you got a beast.

For Music and Movies I would go with Macbook Pro, much more space and faster processor speed, especially if you use Final Cut Pro for video editing. For Business and if you travel a lot I would say the Macbook Air since it's lighter and easier to carry around. I currently have a MacBook Pro 2011 with 2.2 GHz Intel Core 7 Processor and 16 GB Ram. I bought it last summer on Ebay in almost mint condition and use it for my video editing.
