In General all DJ's would start out with some oldies Soca when it comes time to open the dance floor.
I agree with him Old soca does always open it up and does so softly gets the people vibing then you can play the hot chutney, soca anthems etc
depends on the occasion ? is it a birthday ? --> birthday song ? is it a wedding ? --> wedding song ? is it a soccer celebration --> queen - we are the champions etc.
Depends on the crowd... Any coolie house party will surly get going with Babla and Kanchan - Nada Baba
I agree totally with starting off with a Krosfyah song like Sweatin (she Body In Control), Pump me Up or even Wet Me all sang by Krosfyah. I think also alot of music from the 90's had "Soul"...thanks to bands like Krosfyah, Square One, Atlantik, Coalishun, Traffic, Xtatic etc. As far as i'm concerned, the 90's had the best music of all time for both soca and reggae....as far as a decade of hits were concerned. All on board by Atlantik or Krosfyak Pump me up...perfect party opening songs
