I recently or i should say a year ago i did a SSD swap in my desktop for OS. And for music and other stuff i did a 2tb hard drive. So i dont have to keep pluging my hard drive into my desktop everytime i want to use it. Going internal is soo much better and SSD on my laptop as well

Do you find that this works faster?

If you want an internal drive with the best speed, make sure to use a solid state drive. They are more expensive but have a much faster load time. You can also get a solid state drive as an external drive, but you have to make sure that your USB connection is compatible with the speed necessary to use the optimized drive. Check out this video and you will see the speed difference in the drives:

It depends on its purpose of course. Both have (dis)advantages. I have a Synology with a backup to an external drive. For example.

both r up to the point but the most reliable part is go for SSD for external or internal you want............ i prefer both ;)

This is totally depend upon the rpm, capacity, how much inches & drive type, compared both will work same but depend upon how u will be using it with OS or without it or else better u go with SSD if price doesn't matter.

External if you rather the Mobile use. Especially if it support USB 3.0 then u will agree to it with the speed for it being an External Drive.

Curently using two 4TB Seagate External 3.0 External Storage i bought from Pricesmart (Mausica / Arima) and looking forward for a third one for Videos only

Internal, but I always run an SSD as an internal drive. It's much faster that way. I've got a 1TB SSD which is big enough to hold all of the music I plan on using.

I currently use external as I switch between laptops sometimes. Will be installing extra internal drive however will have a duplicate external drive for emergency purpose.

Internal, there is no contest. Internal will take advantage of SATA, or more modernly, NVMe

I use External and Network Attached Storage. The internal hard drive in my laptop is just for temporary use.
