I am basically starting to DJ. I just need a good idea of what equipment I can get, or need to get ; The key phrase of my spending is "most bang for the buck". I'm just trying to do maybe small parties/small halls(common house ~ 2300 sq. ft). I already have a computer, other than that I don't really have much. I would much appreciate it if you guys can throw some great deals my way under. I am not sure of a price range, because honestly I don't know much. Thanks! Also how much Wattage should I aim for ? Which one is better for the money, the powered or the passives?
Since you already have the laptop (hopefully a decent one) The next immediate gear to purchase would be a dj controller (you can move up to turntables and cdjs if you really get into dj'ing later on). You can get a basic one fro $250 or all the way up to $2000 either way you'll get the basics down. Also a decent pair of headphones should run you about $100. Next is the audio. Once again it all up to how much you want to spend. I would say you can get 2 good entry level speakers for $1000. You'll need some cables $100, and a mic $100. You'll have a basic setup and be able to do some small parties (75 people). Once you know your budget then we can recommend some actual gear.
I have a mixtrack pro $75 and its your. I have a Denon MC4000 make me an offer? One of the hot cues button sometimes does not register when you press it. You can replace the contact.
lol, thanks linocol, ill keep looking. I like brand new. hmmm, can you reccomend some good speakers for me Riddims, also a good controller? Thanks chaps
Wit For speakers, I would reccomend the EV ZLX115P or JBL EON 615. You can get a pair for under $1000. You should go to a pro audio store and just listen to them. Keep in mind some cheaper speakers sound very good but the break easily so stay with trusted brands like, EV, JBL, Yorkville, RCF, QSC, Mackie. For a controller a Numark Mixtrack Pro is fine or you can step up a little and get a Denon MC4000. If you already have sound system at home even if its a home theater setup you can plug a dj controller into it and use it initially. No need to buy speakers right away unless you have gigs booked up.
