    How do I put this? Do I need to purchase 1x 16GB or 1x 8GB? If I purchase 1x 16GB, can I keep my 8GB which would make it 24 GB? I am confused....:D:D:D

    If your Configurations supported is
    8 GB, 16 GB, 24 GB, 32 and 64 GB, use two 8/or one 16,

Correct. Use slots DIMM1 and DIMM2 for installation as stated on XPS 8920 Service Manual.

No, but have a backup ready in case you have a smoke show.

Is it a good idea to overclock the memory in BIOS? I noticed my laptop which is also 16GB has the same speed 2133.

Not in 2020; I doubt Dell would allow you do any type of overclocking on an XPS.
Overclocking is primarily done among gamers and usually using a higher-end motherboard.

The RAM depends on what you want to do with your computer, if you're DJing, then go for the 16 GB RAM (if you can afford it). For Photo/Video editing, use a 16 (if you can afford it, again). Hopefully this could help.
