If you are using software to play your music, turn tables and controllers aren't really different both works great. Turntables may seem advanced but they do samething.

I have a traktor kontrol S4 but I still prefer the analog mixer connected to CD players.

Me, I’m personally a controller user. Controllers are good for practicing and portable. If you like scratching or into the more technical side, use turntables (note: they obviously cost thousands of dollars for a complete setup with a pair and a mixer). If you value portability, prefer mixing rather than scratching ( Like RastaMan said), new to DJING and on a budget, go for controllers

(note: if you’re wanting a blend of both turntables and controllers, check out the DDJ REV7 or RANE ONE/FOUR. The REV7 has a DJM S9 or S7 mixer and according to Pioneer’s trailer on the REV7, it’s said to replicate a DJM and PLX setup in battle mode. Same for the RANE One/FOUR. Besides, if you combine the price of turntables and a Battle Mixer (DJM S11/9/7 for instance), it’s literally about 3000 (depending on the place) while the REV7 and RANE are ranging from 1600-2000.) Hopefully this will help out.

Got the DDJ Rev7 must say it's pretty close to real turntables but it is what you prefer. I don't think we can give you the right answer.

I would say to learn on both and then decide which you prefer. Personally prefer static platters and more often than not, this is what most venues will have.

if the club providing it, then turntables, but you have to bring your own needles.

if i have to come with equipment, controller

Rane 12s felt like the best middle ground for me. Just don't like carrying them around lol.
