2012 was a huge year for soca...with hits like Bachannalist by Kerwin DuBois. Machel alone gave hits like Mr Fete, Vibes cyah done and Bottle of Rum all in same year likewise. 2014 was also a very memorable year for soca with hits like Too real by Kerwin Dubois and Happiest Man Alive by Machel Montano. Who can forget the big hit Rolly Polly by Mr. Killa and Soak it good by Skinny Banton. In addition, hhe entire 90's were great for soca music as well, in particular 1994 - 1998....its very difficult to choose only one year though....too many great songs.
Funny, I was debating this the other day. My vote is 2003... even came across a cd recently from that year, good times!
To be honest there was a few good years of soca in my opinion. BEST YEARS OF SOCA: 80s-90s (So much classic hits and legendary artists like Baron, Sparrow, Black Stalin, etc.) 2000s (A Handful of hits) 2010-2014 (2011-2012 had some bangers like Bacchanalist, Mr. Fete, Vibes Cyah Done. etc like Radicale said. There was also a lot of hits in 2013-2014 like Too Real, Rolly Polly, The Fog is one of my favorites. Also: Ministry of Road [MOR], Big People Party was a big hit, there was a lot of hits during these 4 years.) 2023 (This year is so far going well. Come Home, Hard Fete, Like Yuh Self, were 3 of the 2023 Road March hits) (HOPEFULLY 2024 WOULD BE EVEN BETTER THAN THIS YEAR! 2023 GOING GOOD, BUT LET'S SEE IF 2024 CAN MEET/EXCEED 2023!)
2015 and 2016 to me were good years too, you had kan kan riddim, patrol riddim, ti punch riddim, jumbie jab riddim, RR riddim just to name riddims and not even singles
