I agree my cousins stay home for holidays that aren't our religion but have to go to school on ones that are for them.
I agree, diwali should be a hoilday along with eid- we pride ourselves as Canadians to be mutli cultural and diverse yet we stilll only recognize Catholic holidays.
The way I see it, you guys just making it easier for them to whitewash everything. Im in University, in the state of Florida. They whitewash all the events. They call Diwali the festival of lights. Making no reference to Amma Laksmi. They do Garba, for what? For the dancing, no reference to any diety. On top of that, I see president Obama starting to say Happy Diwali to us in order to gain favor. For every damn thing these moneysuckers gotta use in order to get our interest and use us. I prefer how it is now. We as hindus are humble. When humility is lost, and we try to assert ourselves, we make ourselves vunerable to manipulation, and further deterioration of the knowledge. Everything gets bleached. Bleach doesnt only whiten, it weakens.
It's not fair that we Hindus do not have any public Holidays whats so ever in America, considering the fact that we are the 3rd largest religion in the world.
It should be especially in places where they have a multicultural society. It's recognized but not celebrated it just isn't fair
Yeah, living in New York City, current Mayor Eric Adams made Diwali an official public holiday in a statement saying that Diwali will be made a public holiday. And as a Hindu, I agree with the people saying that Diwali should be a public holiday because it wasn't fair that Hindus didn't have Diwali as a holiday before Adams.
