Soca & Dancehall is doing well in 2020 straight to now. Chutney on the other hand, in my opinion isn’t doing as great as it was back in the day. The Lyrics in Chutney honestly isn’t making any sense AT ALL. Most of the songs are about Horn & Rum (don’t get me wrong, I like them but only a small amount of songs) and a there’s a small amount of GOOD QUALITY songs and they come out one in every 3 months. So tell me, what is your opinion on the Chutney industry and will it ever get better? (It will get better… only within a few years..:rolleyes:) (this post will defiantly cause controversy… )

Chutney CAN get better if the artists start writing their own songs and stop using melodies from Indian songs, While some songs are hits, imagine how far they can go by being unique.

Also the Bollywood covers need to go, The original song is good enough.

I think the bollywood covers can be fine, they just have to add more to it and not just re-use the beat almost exactly. Hits like doh hold meh back use indian chunes, but it's a little more difficult to tell than today's songs

Speaking of the Bollywood covers, there's a new Collab between Nailah Blackman & Nisha B! Collab is just fire and this was defiantly unexpected. Song slaps, love the bass on that

Well, Ravi now just come out with Shirley Gyal, which to me: sounds VERY ORIGINAL. I don’t sense any use of Bollywood Melodies and it defiantly sounds original. (Idk, I could be wrong lol)

Well most artists are traditionally trained indian musicians trying to make traditional indian music.

You have to understand the chutney culture. It has vastly been about rum and relationship more over the "HORN" as we say it.
Both aspects, for the most and surprisingly we can relate to some part of the song or know someone who was or in that position.

Song drops- fast tempo, catchy, relatable and you could put your own meaning to it and it still makes sense= WIN

It seems like some of the producers only tells the clients what the CLIENT(ARTISTE) WANTS TO HEAR rather than the truth.
"You not sounding good at all !" Then again they will loose $ if they say so right ?

Traditional vs New Era for eg. Sunil Samsundar -Shirley Gyal is a 100% better version than Ravi B -Shirley Gyal

I does always say 2009 was one of the better year for chutney. Thats the year Dularie Nanny was released, every other artiste and producer was on point.

Still have many more variables to consider. I could only hope that chutney and chutney soca gets better.

As time continues goes on most Bollywood song already have 1-3 chutney covers already done its definitely time for a bit more originality.
Wouldn't mind some more traditional chutney tho they got the tempo, that hot shii at like 145bpm-160bmp.

Chutney was going downhill ever since things were opening up after COVID lockdown.
As per 2024, probably the worst year, chutney music has been declining each year I find.

The only good artist, that I think is good, is Raymond, who has the entire industry (if there's any) on his back I find as most of these new artists be releasing straight trash (I'm sorry for having to say it that, but it's the honest truth ngl).

As per chutney being saved, the traditional chutney singers (like Sunil Ramsundar, Rakesh, Rasika, etc.) is probably the only people who can restore chutney to its former glory. But as of now, chutney is garbage. I find myself listening to soca and dancehall that's releasing nowadays more than chutney. The only chutney I listen to is from anything before 2019 (I'll listen to nowadays if there's quality releases, but there isn't).

Right now it’s a bunch of sing backs getting really repetitive and annoying at this point
