I have lots of older cassettes I want to make digital. What is the most efficient way to do this that will provide the best quality? I was thinking of doing line out from my cassette deck (Stereo RCA male type plugs) to 3.5mm male plug to the microphone jack of my computer. Then just record the audio. Also what is the best recording software?

    Goodnight

I bought a Line Output Converter this same one locally offcourse

    https://www.kmart.com/nippon-rca-power-amp-low-level-jack-adapter/p-A037409104

    Also known as LOC Device

I connect it to the 4 terminal (2 red / 2 black) channels (Left and Right) to the wires of the LOC Device from my old Cassette Stereo, and connected the RCA off the LOC Device to the Line Input of my COmputer.

I used Audacity Software (FREE) to Record the sound off the stereo playing the cassette and the pc running audacity records the cassette music into MP3

I does Normalized the Recording after and slight adjustment to the music for satisfaction

    For Vinyl or Cassettes:
Remember every input connects to an output or output to an input.
So if you have a cassette, the player needs to have an output. Keep in mind an output can be RCA which is ideal or a headphones jack can also work.
You will also need a sound card for your laptop. It can be internal or external, once it has an input (remember you want the sound coming OUT of your cassette or record player to be recorder IN your computer.
Once you have them connected, you need a recording software. I use Adobe Audition. Make sure the settings of your software are set to the sound card input. After recording, you can save it in any format you prefer (MP3, WAV etc.)

    Good luck!

I have everything plugged into my CPU and then I convert them into MP3. It takes a while, but you know what you have and you can label it what ever you want.

Buy Something like this - https://www.amazon.com/Gracioso-Converter-Rechargeable-Microphone-Headphone/dp/B0BHWH473H/

No matter what you buy, you will have to use Adobe Audition like program to enhance it such as Parametric Equalizer & Dynamic Processing if you want CD quality sound. I mean you might have tape noise which you will need to eliminate so have to use these type of programs that does it.

Try Audacity for now as its free - https://www.audacityteam.org

    Cakewalk by BandLab - https://www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk?lang=en
