yea i agreee with jones on ur cpu crapping out.
i plan on getting the dns-1200's.
they suuport cds, externals and flash drives, and can plug into ur cpu as a controller. so if my cpu "craps out" i can plug my external into them and im good 2 go. plus, u can use one external on both dns-1200's. my laptop runs at 2.0ghz dual core with 4gbs of RAM and has never crapped out let alone ever slow down on me once. hopefully it never doesnt either

well the one im lookin at has 2.0 dual ghz
and 2 gb dual channel ram

i'm thinkin' that shudnt freeze up... im not gonna be using the comp for anythin cept djin...

the hard drive space will prolly be around 160 gb... i was thinkin of adding onto it an external harddrive later on... ill prollly have to hook dat up firewire..

lolllll.. i have a lil backup plan for if traktor craps out... drop in a quick mix cd dat shud hold dem till it reboots lol..

so the main thing your concerned with is the processor speed? to make sure dis ting dont crash while im live djin.... so whats a decent processor speed u wud say? i can always upgrade da processor thru dell..

that sounds pretty good... so wat do u use to mix exactly? cd's, vinyl's, mp3? and what software?

how soon do you need one ?
even saving a few more bucks up and get a nice 2.2 or 2.4 ghz would be much better.

dont get a alien ware too much hardware in it geared for gaming that you probably wont need.

well im not a DJ, i dont like to call myself one. its just a hobby i do in free time u kno. wen i DJ its usually only for my family parties birthdays and stuff. but dont get twisted my drunk uncles will still kill meh skunt if i do bad. i use vdj wen i do live mixing i find it easy and very user friendly. i plug my laptop into 1 of my inputs on my mixer and i switch from laptop to cd cuz i still hav a bunch of cd's from be4. i just got my laptop a lil over a month ago. and i've done 3 parties (bad thing bout playing for family is you dont get paid cheap bastards lol) like this and i havent had any real problem in doing so.

well theres this gig i got in march... i was either gonna go wit cd's or try out dis laptop dj'in..

but by the looks of the responses... i might as well jus hold out and save up for a better laptop dat i can use for everythin' plus dj'in... i was gonna get a cheap laptop now just for dj'in.... and later on get sumthin' ylek a mac.... but i doesn't really make sense to buy two if im gonna end up using the better model to dj and do other shyt too...

lyke mk said... the alienware is sexy.... right now i got my eyes on a mac or da alienware notebooks..

also if ur buying vinyl, maybe u might wanna buy sumthin dat plays vinyl, cd, and is a controller too. thats y im buying da dns-1200's. they are a controller, play cds, and easily hook up to external and flash drives. so its a good backup and u can do more with ur hands then a keyboard and touchpad.

dats also not a bad idea just build da damn thign urself

yeah yeahhhh i guess you just mis type ur statement.

but yeah thats a good ideal to what your saying.
its expensive getting into djing, its not a cheap hobby, and going and buying cheap gear means youll replace it constantly then actually laying down to the dough to get something that will last and be reliable.

its cool that you dont consider your self a dj but yet your willing to invest into those denon decks, most djs dont even have a proper cd player system yet there suppose to be the next best thing.

    kudos to you

it all depends on you man... if you ask me, if your gonna invest in something...invest in a good mac, or invest in building your own pc.

these pre-built pc's are way to over rated, and shitty.
also with pc's you can partition your pc to run mac, and mac to run pc...but that gets complicated.

also, pc's are way more expandable and in some aspects more customizable, but macs are more production savvy.

all in all, i would stick with pc and just build a high end pc, for a lesser price...
set a budget and buy your parts based on that budget, and do lots or research.

i researched my parts for 3 months and i couldnt be happier with this pc...i didnt even think about puchasing a mac after buying this.

yea... i hear the mac's are good for multimedia and stuff... datz usually wat i see the dj' use when i go club tobago... dell uses sum shyt parts... but if u get the top of the line u get some good stuff... i only had to replace 2 dell parts in about 6-7 years..

alienware is sexy tho bro... its lyke the ipod of mp3 players... i think they get their design and shyt off the xps... i believe dell bought out alienware and intergatres design..

truee.. damn yo... for someone dat doesnt think of themself as a dj... u sure loadin' up on mad equipment lol.... u must have sum tough damn uncles lol

    lol.... yea u right...

i mean for a pc... i alrdy use a dell xps from 04-05... and this was top of the line dell at the time so its been lasting pretty good so far... but the buildin' your own laptop idea is intriguin'... what kinda specs were u able to put in ur laptop for 500?
