I need to get this out, I mean chutney isn't as original as it used to be with all the remakes like "Jep Sting Naina" and "Teri Ore" somebody need to let these singers know THEY SUCK and they have no creativity what so ever, but there are a few new chutney songs you can pick out that sounds good at the same time is original.

My favorite artist has to be Rakesh Yankaran
Big respect for this guy. Usually after a chutney artist makes a big hit you don't hear much from them after words like Rikki Jai with Mor Tor but after Jo Jo Jo this man kept going strong with big party chunes like Gumhi Badale and Janey Chaley.

 

i think this thread already exists man... but as im here I'd have to say kanchan would be on top the list for me as top female chutney singer... As for a male singer either sundar popo or ramdai chaitoe

THANK YOU. FINALLY SOMEONE AGREES WITH ME. Tell these people to give up on making music. Jep sting naina now she cant wine-a... who gives a shit if a scorpion sting her and she cant wine? Trinidadians are notorious for making music that don't make sense or have a point. People like rakesh and anand yankaran can gwaan. The rest of them needa die.

Musically.. Yes. I'm in support of all and any guyanese reggae/hip hop artists and I'm willing to work with them.

 

Kanchan is certainly the best of all time, but I like some of the new stuff also. It's just a different time and the music keeps changing with the times.

 

Rakesh Yankaran and sundar popo. When it comes to music Chutney has gotten really sht. But, hands down Indian music in my opinion is the worst genre of music lately with there attempt to blend indian an hip pop, etc.

Weapon x check your self if it was not for TRINI people there would be no chutney music I agree it is not as hot as back in the 90s but for the legends like sundar and kanchan and chaotie we would not able to play chutney in a party.

so the best artist of a music that started in trinidad is a surinamese guy. makes sense. even people who aren't native to it can make it better than them.

unfortunately we will never hear chutney like what came from the khanchan era
babla was a indian producer who did a great job with combining westindian and indian styles of production in one.

plus most of khanchan stuff was indian.
now most chutney is some indian or english verses.

i can agree khachan is one mahhh favorite artist.
