If you want to run Serato, get a mac. If music production, build a desktop with some decent components

Yup. The Mac vs. PC argument can go on for DAYS, but it's simple...Mac JUST WORKS better with Serato and there's less problems. Windows 8 isn't even supported or recommended by Serato yet (I know you said 7, I'm just saying)...

With the AMD and Intel processor problems with Windows, you're better off spending your money more wisely and getting a Mac

my friend has win 8 and is running serato itch with no problem itch 2.2.2 so building a pc is not a good idea. I have asus i7 12gig ram 1tb hdd with win 7 works perfect with serato.

Hey you asked for help.. take it from me and sparkxxx, Serato just works A LOT better with mac. I hate macs lol the only reason I have a mac is for serato. It doesn't crash (as often) as it does on windows (more often). But hey, you can also NOT take my advice and do what you want lol

... and why the hell would you wanna carry a desktop and monitor to a gig!? lmfao

I'm assuming by "a computer for DJing" you mean a desktop for acid pro. Cause I've never seen someone bring their entire computer set for a gig lol. However, I would highly recommend a windows desktop for programs like acid pro. There's tons of compatibility problems with those programs and Apple. You could probably browse the entire general discussions subforum on here alone and find 10+ people asking about why acid doesn't work on their macs.

But if you're talking about live mixing with serato capable equipment, purchase a macbook.
