Driver Issues

  1. I was updating some drivers and turned out they kinda ****ed my computer up. I have a ECS KM-400M2 REV 1.0 motherboard with a VIA VT8378 Northbridge and VIA VT8235 Southbridge.

After everything ****ed up I went and I rolled back all the drivers that updated to the previous ones. I made sure every driver that was updated was restored. The computer would still lock up randomly... most of the times when the CPU usage goes up to 80-100%. Some new devices appeared though and I'm guessing those are the ones that are causing the problem.

The 2 drives with the HL-DT-ST are my drives. The XUHA SCSI CdRom Device is something that I never had installed. Also a SCSI/RAID Controller appeared out of nowhere too. I googled the name of the device but i got no results.

The name of the device keeps on changing every time I restart my computer. I went to the location of the driver file in the "/system32/driver folder" but that file wasn't there. I set the options to show hidden system files and other hidden files and I still didn't find anything.

Any help on how I can get the SCSI drive and the SCSI/RAID controller removed would be appreciated. I'm trying to AVOID reinstalling windows. Also I tried to find the shipping drivers for my motherboard but I couldn't find anything... maybe someone else would have better luck finding them. Thanks in advance.

    - did you install any mounting softwares: alcohol, daemon?

    - did you uninstall the drives? as showing here (http://i37.tinypic.com/30sv8gp.jpg)

    - did you try to disable the drives? (right-click on the drive > disable)

  3. I have daemon tools installed but its not running

I'd uninstall the drives but ittl still randomly lock up. When I restart they re-appear.

I disable them but the problem still persists.

    aright, let's narrow it down.
unmount the image (if you have anything mounted). uninstall daemon & restart.

I had got the same problem before but only my audio driver crash. I uninstall it then went to hp.com and search for my pc and download the new drivers and it works. try doing that to your pc and see.

yea i told trigga the same thing..but he said he built his pc.. so im not sure if that wud work.

  7. unmounted and uninstalled. that takes care of the scsi controller and cd drive.

theres still the random lock ups at high cpu usage. this NEVER happened before. this computer NEVER stuck ever since i built it, so I know it has something to do with the drivers i updated.

Well you can try System Restore and roll back to a time that you didn't update your drivers. I've used it once because I installed a update and my computer started acting up so I restored to 2 days before and it was working normal again.

  11. tuneup utilities takes care of that every friday at 3pm. thats not it. its something with the mainboard drivers i had updated.. if i can find the shipping drivers that came with the motherboard on CD for download online then i can fix it.
