format in djing at a party

    DJ'S do u have a set format u use when djing at party..e.g old school hip hop then old school reggae then new stuff...what is your general format when playing out if there is any?

    There is no set format. This is what the customer is paying you for. You have to gauge the crowd and know what to play at the right time.

    I agree with Johnnie Walker. A good DJ or selector would have a good idea as to what the crowd will respond best to. You've most likely excelled as a DJ due to your tasteful selections and quick response to the crowd's energy.

    Generally, you play warm up tunes at the beginning and steadily build the night (pending the event, venue, what the person booked you for, etc.) No straight answer for this.
