So I have a playstaion three and i want to put music and photos and videos etc... So i have a 1.5 Tb Seagate Hardrive, i try hooking the usb portion into the ps3 portion and nothing comes up! What can i do to trasnfer my files to my ps3? i have a 250 gb ps3
Your hard drive is in NTFS The PS3 only recognizes FAT32 and FAT format types you can either format your 1.5 TB hard drive, or just go to staples and buy a damn flash drive for like 15 bucks or, you can stream shit to your ps3 wirelessly, but the tutorial for that is long, ill make a post of how to do it when i have time. You can also burn stuff to dvd's and cd's and rip them to your ps3, and burn them as data discs so you can put more on one disc. However, best and easiest solution is to go invest in a flash drive. And if you have a PSP, Just use the psp as a flash drive to transfer files. When you plug in your media storage device, go to it on the PS3, hit Triangle and click display all so you can see all your folders. To make it easier so you don't have to display all, Music should be stored in a folder called "MUSIC" Pictures in "PICTURES" or it might be "PICTURE", not sure All videos in "VIDEOS"
na bro dont do all that, all you have to do is media sharing. Plug the hdd in any comp and install this is program ( http://ps3mediaserver.blogspot.com/ ) then turn on ps3 and it should atomatically find the computer providing you have a wireless router. then just copy w/e files you want. It honestly takes longer to tranfer but its much simpler..
thats what i do, but its actually not simpler.. when i installed it, my ps3 was not detected at first, i had to force the IP and transfers do take long, and if you have a lot of files in a folder, it takes awhile to load up all your files, let alone scroll down the list to find a specific file its much easier to use a PSP or flash drive.
name the forders on your portable drive MUSIC and put your songs in there man i wish my ps3 worked the diskdrive failedd
