Ok so my old laptop is really acting up with things such as getting a blue screen like 7 times before it turns on and the other day idk how many times i got the blue screen so i just gave up and shut off the laptop. So what im planning on doing is taking all my files and stuff and transfering it to my external and restoring my old laptop and then putting the files back on it. because right now its only working in safe mode

    My questions here are:

Will restoring the old laptop remove all the virus and get it running back to normal?

And when putting the files back on the old laptop will i have to re download the programs to make the things work? for example i have nero and acid on the old laptop so if i transfer the files on the external and put them back on the old laptop will i have to re download acid and nero for the files to work or will everthing transer back over? and same question with i tunes cause i just spend the last few months organizing everything, and i acutally have some mixing on acid that came out "good" lol

I wanna try this now because black friday is coming up and I want to know if i need to get another laptop or not. I wanna fix my old one so i can use it for burning cds/dvds and mixing music on acid. But its hard to do that when it takes about 30mins to start up cause the blue screen keeps coming on. And if i do get it fixed ill put avast on there to help out.

if you do a full system restore and it re-formats the hard drive, everything will be erased, viruses and all, so you will have a clean install.

you can move all your files over to an external but the software will not be copied, you will have all your files to copy back onto your laptop but you will not have the programs unless you re-install them yourself .

im a certified computer technician, let me know if you need more help

I took it to best buy and the guy at geek squad was like oh it will cost 200 bucks for us to fix it and i just bought it for $640. Can i restore this one and will it come back to new? cause i dont wanna pay 200 bucks for them to fix it cause u never know if shit will happen on it again. and I have norton and it didnt pick up any type of threats what so ever

Use malwarebytes and superantispyware. Both are good. If not use Norton power eraser

Try account>New Version check. That might help detect new viruses.
