I'm using Timur's Kernel with ym N7 2013 & my tablet begings it sleep mode as soon as my car goes off (it takes about 3 seconds to go to sleep).

The issue I have is that my USB Hub is connected directly to a power source and turns off as soon as my car is off, meaning my SSD would turn off instantly without unmounting.

Would that be cause for concern considering I am only reading files like music & never writing when the drive's power is cut?

Should I buy an SSD with powerloss protection ro something (enterprise drive)?

i don't find any use for ssd in your case. stick with hdd if you are only using the nexus 7 for music/videos. if you do decide to get ssd, your best bet is probably one with powerloss protection. enterprise drives are mainly for servers.
