Nah, I been overclocking parts in my builds for 3-4 years now and no harm or damage done as long as volts are kept within intel's specs and adequate cooling is maintained. All my old parts get cycled down to my lil bro n sis, and mom, once I upgrade and they still working just fine :)

I've done my research over the years, n I research overclocking potential before I buy parts as well. Why fork out $1000+ for the extreme processors in the series when I can overclock and get the same performance for a hell of alot less money? I game on this computer too, as my lil bro has the 360 at home and I only have my computer here at school. So I save money in overlocking as this is my gaming system/ general use computer.

Not necessarily, although that's generally the case, because OEM manufacturers usually lock off BIOS options which are integral to the overclocking process.
